Three More Days

Hard to believe that I will be gone from here in a measly three days and won't be back for four months. I love my home, I love my family, I love my pets and it sure is hard to tear myself away. I know that everybody is going to miss us, including the dog. I find it sad as well to say goodbye to the cats. The cats belong to Angela but really have been my cats as she seldom can find a place to live that allows cats. She is looking for new homes for them because they really should not be here when John gets back after the transplant due to his weakened immune system. When I say goodbye to them it will probably be permanent. Please don't laugh but this makes me sad. I should not dwell on it because this is going to make me cry. Bwaaa..... ho boy! Get a grip Chris!

One consolation is that we are not heading into the great unknown like we did the last time.
We will be staying at Union Bay again and I can picture the apartment in my head so it is a little bit like a home away from home. I plan to finish up all the packing and odds and ends as well as get my hair cut and even give the dog a bath tomorrow. It would never do for the people who are going to care for him to have a smelly dog, at least at the start. One whiff of him and they may just send him home, then Angela would be stuck with him and have to stay at our place the whole time which would probably make her be mentally unstable. One nice thing for the dog is the people caring for him own a female collie. He may never want to come back here. I think that will make things a little easier for him as he is a big sucky baby of a dog.

We plan to spend Saturday and Sunday with the kids and grand kids and I don't want to have to do any work. I just want to enjoy them all.

I can imagine it is strange to be going away from home for so long. And when you come back, it will be mid winter! But I would not worry too much Chris, everybody is going to cope. Big big hug from me dear, I hope all will be going well.

By the way, you're going to be in Seattle right? I'll be in Portland early November. Is that too far for you? Do you drive? I don't know, I was just thinking ...
You know?

I bet you are sad, that has to be hard leaving your home and loved ones for a while, especially since that is what you need during a tough time.

Enjoy your two days with family AND then I wish you all the best and a quick 4 months!!!!

@ Jientje: I am not sure how far that is. I don't think it is too bad but things will depend on how close he has to stay to the cancer alliance at that time and whaty appointments he may have. It would be so nice to be able to meet you. Maybe Sheila (blog friend from Tacoma) and I could come. Oh yes, this does have possibilities!!!

When I saw Jientje's comment, I was thinking, "heck, I could drive Chris to Portland and then I saw your comment! No problem. I have two days off nearly every week, but they are weekdays. Of course, I can always take an extra day off if needed! Sounds fun. We could go for lunch and maybe while there meet one of my online friends that lives down there, also. This DOES have possibilities! lol.

i started reading your blog during your last trip. i wish you and john well during this situation. you're in my prayers.

and i would think of laughing about your cat situation. how hard it must be for you to have to say good bye to a part of the family.

hope you'll find time to blog and let us know how things are going.
