Look what came in the mail last week! Little baby Fluffy socks! I love them. Fluffy made them and sent them for Abigail. I waited to post about them because I wanted them to be a surprise. I took them with to the baby shower.
We tried them on. They are big but they sure make nice slippers. They match her outfit. I think Abigail likes them. Thank you ever so much Fluffy.
I sharpened the tools. I think some of them are still a bit dull. I am going to get John to take a look at them for me. They have to be a sharp as you can get them. Dull blades cause injuries.
It is a messy business. I did not require any band aids today.
I worked five hours on it today. I decided against carving cats. I am doing Saskatoon berries instead. I am going to tuck a surprise in the box.
The top of the nesting box is finished. I did have some troubles with it. I am used to carving on much sturdier wood. You can see, I caused a small crack. I am hoping I can hide it with wood filler. I think the wood was too dry as well. I am going to humidify it before I try to do any more. Now all I have left to carve are the sides and find my paints. I have looked all over the place for them and I don't have a clue where I put them. I may have to wait a couple of weeks for Becky to bring me her paints. I forgot to take them home with me when we were out there last weekend.

Wow! I had no idea you did wood carving. You are one talented lady.
Wow! I am so impressed. I had no idea you were a wood carver. This is beautiful :)
Love the socks, too.
I am very, very amateur. I went to a seminar at Lee Valley and the professional told me that I was spacial challenged. Hahaha! I don't care. I dance to the beat of my own drum.
that's amazing chris. beautiful, too. how long have you been carving?
I think they are amazing. Spacial Challenged, my eye.
That is beautiful Chris! Can't wait to see it painted.
She is really quite talented. She just doesn't do enough of it.
Wow!!! I had no idea!! This looks very pretty!
I need to find time to work on my lace too, it looks like I'm stuck, and I have to redesign it again.
wow! i'm so impressed! that does not look easy! and it is so beautiful!
SO EXCITING! I won? WOWEE!!! This is so great! I love this creative Pay It Forward Idea. I will post my pay it forward "challenge" on my blog this evening.
Surprise me with whatever you creatively see fit. Try something new, do something your comfortable with...whatever works for you!
and take your time, i'm in no rush. I know you are good for it!
thanks again!
(p.s. i love the baby booties!)
That is amazing!
Those socks are adorable! And I love the carving...
I'm so happy that you liked the socks. The fiber content is superwash wool, soy, silk and cotton. And they are machine wash and dry so she can pook on them.
The way the tools are layed out, it looks like you are ready for surgery
Nice job on the carving, Chris. I used to do that, but haven't in a long time. Your stuff doesn't look spacially challenged to me. Artistry is about presenting your creativity to the world, anyway. Look at Picasso. Do you think his work is spacially correct? haha.
Yet, it has it's own appeal.
I still have a couple of my carving stones around. Maybe you should bring your tools to Seattle.
Christine! I had no idea you were so talented!
